What Makes a Good Photograph?
Jamie Brown
Rhythm and Patterns. It's all about the composition and exploring. Jamie Brown seems to have the eye for photography, at least in my perspective. These are the types of photos I like to take.

The photo on the left is simple with its patterns, even blended gradient of background highlights and with the strong black tones on the pillars, which together forces the focal point on the bird. It has an optical illusive effect on the eyes.
Brown's photo on the right has an eye catching affect with the asymmetrical patterns of colors and symmetrical pattern of shapes But in comparison to the above photo of smooth and simples tones, this one however is quite chaotic with the disordered color of boxes. It's just the realness of rhythm that is captivating.
Brown's work appeals to me due to its exploratory nature in patterns, rhythm, and symmetry/asymmetry.

Patterns.
The mood is fun and playful.
The underlying message is that patterns are all around us. I love driving by this Discovery Bay town to see these buildings.
For me, the subjects are inanimate and/or organic: the buildings and trees. I love how they are aligned and how they use symmetry/asymmetry. All light source is natural - it was a sparsely cloudy day.
I would love to reshoot these with a model with fun clothes and in the evening time for light contrast.

Windows.
The mood in this round of yellow house photos is mysterious and curious. I love everything about this house, which makes it extremely inviting for me to want to explore. The cracked glass windows gives it another layer of history and story. The window lookout demonstrates the lives of those once living there. It instigates your wonderment of who used to be there and what their lives were like.
The subject is the window: what does it means to look through someone else's view? Yellow themes the photos. The concept is a reflection to oneself.
There is a great contrast of light in the middle photo. All photos use natural light.
Again, I would love to reshoot with a model and maybe at night time for nice lighting.
