A Day in the Life of Christina
Waking up early to the sunrise, Christina gets ready for a hopefully consistent day of emotions. She drinks her freshly brewed ginger and turmeric tea to fight off residual inflammation and mucus from her body.
Christina studies mindfulness practices so her mornings usually start with yoga, light massage, and contemplation in preparation for day of single parenting and full time schooling. As a highly sensitive person, she never know what feelings and emotions she will experience in a day. The road of sensations awaits her. Sometimes it's a smooth ride with sunshine and light clouds. Other days it's raining for days. Occasionally, it can feel like a hurricane, tornado, or earthquake is along her path making her basic being of existence seem negligable and almost impossible to continue. Most often, there is too much traffic and congestion, so she retreats. |
Nevertheless, despite the conditions on the road of daily life, Christina perseveres and keeps on moving.
|
Christina grew up in a household that did not celebrate diversity and creativity. Hence, she adapted to strict expectations with her behavior and appearance to the outside world. Christina took refuge in the inner realms of her mind and imagination in order to find a safe place to be herself.
Society's Desirable - Masking
Always smiling, not using her brain to its fullest capacity in creative pursuits. Looking straight ahead in linear fashion and following the crowd. Christina is a pretty machine. She was trained to be this way. Always positive and people pleasing. |
Childhood Self - Misunderstood
Heart of gold, but so misunderstood. A little bit out of focus due to the dissociative state of a childhood forgotten. Sad. Confused. Lack of self development. This period of her life was a blur and there are still uncovered traumas lurking around. |
Some think autistic people lack empathy and emotions, but that is a biased perspective.
As a female on the spectrum, Christina is hypersensitive and has many feelings, which can often conflict or overwhelm her. Often leading up to a so-called meltdown, she will have moments of emotional overstimulation, and sometimes dysregulation when she is under stress.
Another interesting fact about autism is that those on the spectrum have the incredible ability to hyper-fixate on certain special interests and passions. Christina geeks out with her passions for yoga and self-development, health/nutrition, art and creativity, eastern philosophy, traveling, and many more.

Now, sometimes she doesn't know what she feels because the raw data from the external world is processed at a different, unpredictable pace due to her different neuro-wiring. Sometimes, she needs a longer period to process what she experiences and cannot grasp the extreme amount of emotions and sensations she feels all at once. At rare times, it's chaos and will turn into a complete burnout stage.
Some experts think Autists cannot express their emotions, Christina refutes this. Her brain and nervous system experience many pleasurable, weird, odd, and eccentric sensations...like most humans do.
Christina has a strong spiritual perspective. As she contemplates herself and her experiences, she feels the layers and the foundations to life's meanings and purposes. Not only does she study the various shades and outlines that make up the physical body, but she expresses a determinant yearning for the contours, depths and expanses of the soul.
She is a great problem solver, solutions seeker, and creative visionary. She sees many perspectives with great attention to detail. She observes patterns and define borders, connecting the dots and fitting together the jigsaw puzzle.

Over the past two years, Christina's hidden wounds have revealed themselves through somatic therapy by releasing the trapped emotions and experiences from the various layers of her body: feelings of abandonment, loss, misunderstanding and broken heartedness.
She accepts them into her life as she understands them now. These wounds give her strength to build and transform herself into the person she knows she is meant to be.
Growing feathers.
A dark bird emerges, one that has been pushed to the liminal frontier, to the edge of society.
Christina sees the patterns, learns from them, and gives life to them. She adapts to the changes with resilience.
She finds her voice, her song. She sings it to the world:
Abandon these confined structures and limited concepts of self.
Fly into the endless sky of possibilities, discover your innate gifts, and soar with confidence.

Future: Transformation. The Raven. The Outcast.
