Artist Statement: I was on my way to Central Washington just before hitting the Cascades and this huge plume of early morning fog that took over in every direction (I could barely see ahead of me at one point), so I was able to capture this diffused light assignment with ease and excitement.
There were some moments the landscape around me seemed otherworldly, so in my post processing editing I decided to embody my feelings with the Color Lookup tool in Photoshop. Feelings of aloneness crept in, which is apparent in my last few shots with the loner pine trees. For the river and fence scene, I used three different filters as I had many emotions being there alone in silence. Although the Temperate Rainforest ecology is similar to the Olympics, there was still a different feel to it with very large trees that made me feel super small; I was inhaling all that damp wetness and could feel the cold in my bones unlike the milder coastal temperatures.
All in all, there were some magical moments on this quick trip through the Cascades.

Collage
Artist Statement: Well, I focused on my local landscapes for this collage assignment. The first set of three is pretty much my backyard where I go to for solace at the Kah Tai Lagoon. The second collage is a the rarer sight of the Whitebark Pine that gave me a magical feeling when I passed by the standalone forest especially considering most of our scenery is green; the white stood out to me. For my third collage, I went to town and had a small shoot at the Point Hudson Marina Beach, which had a very high tide. And for my last collage, I focused on the pine landscapes bringing in four diverse different pine landscapes.
The last photo is an example of a landscape I would rather showcase as it feels more of my type of land (Central Washington). Just for fun! I also included my Salute To Pines collage of four.

Landscapes Natural
Focusing on textures of waves and driftwood logs.
Artist Statement: It goes to show you that photography doesn't have to take place on an epic adventure, it can be appreciated in one's backyard and local area. I had planned to go to Olympic National Park, but found out Hurricane Ridge was closed and then the clouds came, so I adapted the situation for a small shoot at the Dungeness Spit and Fort Worden. It's a basic start to many more photos I would like to take of landscapes. To feel at home with the land is one of my biggest passions.
Filter/Enhanced with Photoshop
Over saturated on purpose.
