Colors are a world of their own. They express emotions, feelings, thoughts, and can promote/inhibit action and particular behaviors. Scientifically, colors that we see are due the various wavelengths of light; they are subtle energies in their own.
As individuals, we all have a unique way of seeing and processing color, which relates to how we see on the computer screen. Since we want our work and websites to be accessible to enhance the feelings of belonging, it is necessary to make sure all the colors used in UD, UI, UX are thoughtful and considerate to one's audience. I have a friend who has low visibility, which made sense why all her font was SO BIG on her computer screen (I mean like zoomed 300%). She also prints information on different colored paper to assist others who have visual impairment.
I feel like a GPP sometimes; I can often feel people's emotions and I feel the environment...inside I feel the colors within me; I can feel and see them in patterns when I close my eyes. This is due to Synesthesia: where I experience sensations of colors and shapes in my body, which then affects my mood. I also feel sounds, which is why I really dislike motorcycles and trucks (they are all FIRE AND DEATH COLORS TO ME). Before a lot of my trauma set in, I always lived in sunny, warm places and most often wore clothes with bright colors like yellow and orange...however, due to personality change (and living in a cloudy, damp, windy environment), the colors I wear are often muted although I still like my orange/yellow, they are just more neutral and less saturated.
Colors can having different meanings for different cultures as well, but for the most part, they can be quite universal. I love the chakra system concept that the yogis developed where the colors represent various energies on parts of the body. By concentrating on these colors and energies, one can work on certain personal mind and body connections.
